What? Talking unusual combinations in food, means talking about indo food! The whole cuisine is a fusion of different things, making for the most interesting and surprising palet pleasers. I grew up with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and cheese sandwiches with strawberry jelly. When I got to Jakarta, I was introduced to the wonderful world of crêpes with Nutella and grated cheese. Not so far fetched if you think of chocolate cheese cake.
So, thinking of peanut butter the other day, my mind sort of wandered off with peanuts and noodles. Sounds familiar, huh?! That combination you will find in Pad Thai an American favorite. Then from peanut butter I started jumping to jelly. And then BOOM; PB+J noodles popped up in my head. Say whaaat? Yes, why not? I was instantly seduced by the thought of peanut butter and jelly tastes and the swirling al dente noodles in my mouth. So, that was a quick culinary fantasy to become reality soon.
I must admit, when googling, it turns out I was not the only genius to come up with this unusual combination. But I can honestly say it was an original idea in my culinary mind. Now let’s get cookin’!
